Interview With Pete Wentz: 'I Was Surprised By How Many People Wanted To Get A Tattoo On TV'
We're so excited that Pete Wentz took time out of his busy Fall Out Boy, book promotion and tons of other things schedule to host "Best Ink 2" and chat with us about why he came to host the show, his favorite celeb tattoos and who'd he'd like to invite back if he hosted a season three.
The Face: What made you decide to host "Best Ink 2"?
Pete Wentz: I feel like tattoo culture is something I have always been interested in. I felt like it would be a great chance for me to learn more about the intricacies of the art and at the same time see some great up and coming tattooers.
What do you think about rockers who don’t have tattoos?
My best friend (Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy) doesn’t have any. You know, I think tattoos are like any other art and is to each their own. Most of my friends in bands have a few though.
Which tattooed celebrity out there has the best ink in your opinion? Or do you have any favorite celebrity tattoo?
John Mayer has a great sleeve. I think Rihanna has some cool work done. Chef Aaron Sanchez has some cool ones.
What’s was the most surprising situation you came across while hosting this show?
I was surprised by how much I learned and how open people were to showing me stuff. Between Hannah, Sabina and Joe, I learned something new every day! I was also surprised by how many people wanted to get a tattoo on TV.
You’re a seriously busy guy – you just came out with a book, too! What projects do you have in the works right now?
Ha-ha, always too much going on. I am working on a collaborative project with my friend [designer/marketer] Darren Romanelli. Other than that, I am just trying to stay up to date with everything and be a dad as well.
If there’s a season three, would you be interested in coming back to host? What guest stars would you bring on then?
I’d love to come back! This season was a blast ... maybe my friends the Madden brothers [Benji and Joel] would be cool to have on. I think it’d be cool to do even crazier stunts for the flash challenges ... this experience was a riot for me.
Be sure to catch the season premiere of "Best Ink 2" on Tues., Apr. 3, 10/9c!
