7 Surprising Last Meal Requests From Infamous Death Row Inmates

If you had one meal left in life, what would you choose? Many infamous criminals picked some unlikely choices including bucket of KFC fried chicken and Cheez Doodles.

These notorious death row inmates did not ask for a decadant last meal. No steak, no lobster. Some just wanted a simple cup of coffee or some Cheez Doodles before their execution. 

1.  Timothy McVeigh

Timothy McVeigh was executed in 2001 by lethal injection. He was sentenced to death for killing 168 people and injuring more than 680 during the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. This homegrown terrorist’s last request was two pints of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

2.  John Wayne Gacy

The infamous serial killer requested a dozen fried pieces of shrimp, a bucket of KFC fried chicken, french fries and strawberries before his 1994 execution. Gacy had worked as a manager at three KFC restaurants before being convicted of 33 charges of rape and murder. He had killed 33 young men, most of which he buried under his Illinois home. During some of the murders he allegedly dressed as his clown alter ego, an act he also put on for neighborhood birthday parties.

3.  Aileen Wuornos

One of America’s most well known female serial killers took her coffee black before her death in 2002. Wuornos was highway prostitute who shot and killed seven men in Florida between 1989 and 1990. She inspired the award-winning 2003 film Monster. She declined a final meal, and instead drank a cup of cream-less, sugar-less, black coffee.

4.  Ted Bundy

The charismatic serial killer didn’t eat anything before his 1989 execution by electric chair. Bundy had confessed to the murders of more than 30 people. He turned down his last meal, so he was given the Florida death row standard: steak, eggs, toast with butter, jelly, milk, coffee, juice and hash browns. According to reports, he didn’t touch any of it.

5.  Velma Barfield

Serial killer Velma Barfield was the first woman to be executed after the death penalty was reinstated in 1976. For her last meal, she refrained from anything fancy. She ate Cheez Doodles and a drank a Coca-Cola before her 1984 execution. She had confessed to murdering six people.

6.  Karla Faye Tucker

Tucker became a born-again Christian and inspired a national movement that lobbied for her commutation. Before her incarceration, she killed two people with a pickaxe. She was executed in 1998, the first woman executed in Texas in more than a century. Her last meal was on the light side: She asked for a banana, a peach and a salad.

7.  Adolf Eichmann

A Nazi war criminal, Eichmann was believed to be one of the key organizers of the Holocaust. He hid out in South America but was captured and brought to Israel to stand trial in 1960. His last meal request came in bottle form: a bottle of Carmel, a dry red Israeli wine. He reportedly drank half the bottle before his execution.
