A person claiming to be a Canadian man wanted for the murder of his girlfriend posted a detailed account of her death on Reddit in a since-deleted post, BuzzFeed reported.
Police say that Ager Hasan, 24, crossed the border from Ontario to the United States hours after his ex-girlfriend, Melinda Vasilije, was found stabbed to death in her apartment. He is wanted on second degree murder charges for the late April death.
While Hasan remains on the lam, a Reddit user claiming to be him posted an account of his girlfriend’s death on Facebook. He also posted photos and text message screenshots as evidence of his identity, BuzzFeed reported.
The user claims that he killed Vasilije, 22, in self-defense.
“I understand the early judgements made by society, distancing myself makes it seem like I am trying to escape a crime,” Reddit user “Redasblue101” wrote. “Im not. Im only trying to give myself some space and fully take in what happened before I turn myself in.”
The post claims that Hasan had gone over Vasilije’s house to try to patch things up after they broke up, but instead, she began hitting him.
“Wouldnt say a word and just kept slapping me with tears in her eyes. Slaps turned into hits. I told her I was sorry but if she didnt stop Id do something back,” said Redasblue101. “She didnt stop. I then stupidly pushed her, harder than I expected. She fell against the sink.”
Vasilije then attempted to attack Hasan with a knife, the post claimed, so he grabbed a knife and fought back. “I hit her with it, almost blindly. A few times. I didnt know what happened. I was confused, shocked and scared. I had no intentions of that happening,” the Reddit user said.
“When I left I honestly thought she just passed out,” Redasblue101 claimed. “Then I looked at the blood, and started freaking out and just ran. I didnt [know] for sure she had died until the next day. I honestly had no intentions of ever doing that to her , I was protecting myself.”
Police said they are investigating the post. Hasan is also wanted for defying bail conditions from a previous incident at Vasilije’s apartment in April.
