Aaron Hernandez Estate Is Reportedly Worthless

He signed a $40 million contract with the New England Patriots in 2012, which was the second-largest ever for a tight end.

The estate of ex-NFL star Aaron Hernandez is apparently worth nothing. Following Hernandez's suicide, his laywer and fiance have revealed that his estate is literally worth $0.00 despite the fact that he signed a $40 million contract with the New England Patriots in 2012, which was the second-largest ever for a tight end.

According to the Boston Herald, Shayanna Jenkins Hernandez’s attorney George J. Leontire filed an affidavit in Bristol Probate and Family Court about selling the former athlete's home. There is an offer for $1.3 million (roughly what Hernandez paid for it). The deceased did not leave a will and Jenkins Hernandez and Leontire said his estate is worth “$0.00” with “no monies available and no identifiable personal assets.”

This is all relevant because the proceeds from the home sale have been tied to the 2013 wrongful-death lawsuit against Hernandez filed by the mother of murder victim Odin L. Lloyd. Jenkins Hernandez is seeking to preserve the payment from the house sale “and any potential future actions arising out of decedent’s death,” per court papers.
