Just hours after giving thanks for what they already have, shoppers across the country participated in violence to save money on Black Friday deals.
One person was shot outside a mall in Columbia, Missouri on Thursday night. A 19-year-old, who has not been identified, suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot in the parking, according to KMIZ. Police are unsure if the shooting was accidental or deliberate but it appears to have occurred after a man tried to holster a gun on himself. The mall shut down temporarily after the shooting.
Brawls broke out in a shopping center in Hoover, Alabama, not far from Birmingham which also resulted in a temporary shutdown.
Al.com reports that one person was treated for injuries. Cell phone video posted on Facebook showed women fighting and overall chaos in a store.
To prep for Black Friday, people reportedly attempted to sell store uniforms to shoppers who want to skip lines, or to even rob establishments.
One person tweeted pictures of a Walmart vest, writing: “I’m selling this Walmart vest for $100. Use it to skip the line during Black Friday. You can even walk in, grab what you want, and walk out.”
