Brooklyn Rapper Mousey Baby Charged With Crime After Gay Bar Stabbing

“In Brooklyn, everyone, regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or religion must be able to safely walk the streets..." said acting Attorney General.

James Thomas, a rapper who goes by the name Mousey Baby, has been charged with a hate crime following a stabbing that occurred outside of a Bed-Stuy gay bar. Thomas had allegely slashed one man in the face, stabbed another, and shoved a third to the ground while yelling homophobic slurs.

The incident occurred in the early hours of March 5, a block away from Langston Night Club. Thomas went on a rampage as a crowd poured out of the venue and fled after allegedly slashing one man and stabbing another twice in the torso and once in the shoulder. The man who was slashed needed 18 stitches to repair the damage.

Thomas eventually turned himself in after security footage of the scene was released. He is currently being held at Rikers Island on $150,000 bail and is due in court on April 3, according to DNA Info. Thomas could face up to 25 years in jail.

Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez plans to prosecute Thomas to the fullest extent of the law. “In Brooklyn, everyone, regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or religion must be able to safely walk the streets without fear of being senselessly attacked,” he said in a statement. “This defendant’s alleged actions were particularly egregious as he attacked three innocent people simply because he perceived them to be gay. We will now seek to hold him accountable.”
