Two cousins in Milwaukee, Wisconsin allegedly participated in the robbery and murder of a beloved 60-year-old pizza delivery driver. Then, after the murder, one of them is accused of eating the pizza.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC affiliate TMJ4, Mekael Kennedy, 17, and his elder cousin D’Andre Kennedy, 25, robbed and shot delivery driver Clarence Taper on Monday, September 11.
A neighbor of D’Andrew was one of Taper’s regular customers. She said that Taper was a thoughtful person who always helped the older residents of the apartment building.
"The man, Mr. Clarence, ever since I have been ordering from them he always delivered my food. He would stand there and talk with you. He was just real nice and kind. And he didn't have to come to your door, but he would come to your door," Sheryl Cash said. She called the murder “senseless.”
Police believe that Mekael wore a hockey mask and used his cousin’s gun to rob Taper. The teen told police that the gun was on safety, so he was surprised that it went off. Mekael claimed that the driver lunged at him, which prompted him to shoot.
D'Andre told police that his cousin shot Taper because he tried to take Mekael’s hockey mask off. According to WISN, Taper was shot once in the chest. As Taper lie dying, Mekael allegedly picked the pizza up from the floor.
D'andre claimed he cleaned the gun and threw the bullets away when he realized his younger cousin committed murder. Mekeal allegedly confessed that he robbed a Papa John's delivery driver earlier that week. However, he didn’t hurt him, because he said he didn’t fight back.
Mekael now faces armed robbery and murder charges. He will be tried as an adult. D’Andre has been charged with harboring a felon and obstructing an officer.
