Dad Who Abandoned 5-Year-Old Outside Overnight In Freezing Cold Already Out Of Jail
Tempertures were in the 30s when a man left his daughter at the entrance to a trade college in the early hours of the morning.
The father who left his 5-year-old daughter outside in the freezing cold overnight, is out on bail after being arrested for felony child abuse by abandonment. Security camera footage filmed Adrian Justin Sanchez, 41, leaving his childon the steps of Ogden Weber Applied Technology College at 5 in the morning on October 9. Temperatures were in the 30s overnight, and all the little girl had to keep her warm were a couple blankets before a security guard found her crying at 7:30 a.m.
According to the child’s mother, she was traumatized by the event. Gena, who asked that her last name be withheld, told local Fox affiliate KSTU, “She said she got scared. She was yelling, 'Daddy!' but no one was there.” It is unknown why Sanchez abandoned the girl at the campus, where he told her go to sleep on the cold, hard cement as he left. After the child was found, Sanchez hid from police at his mother’s house before giving himself up and being taken into custody.
Gena says she is frustrated that Sanchez is already out on bail. A previous request for a restraining order against him was denied, but she plans to seek one again, and also have his parental rights removed. "I'm scared for my daughter," Gena said. "I'm going to do whatever it takes to protect her."
