Man Decapitates Mom, Stabs Dad To Death Month After They Bail Him Out Of Jail

“The mother loved him. His dad loved him… I’m just in shock."

A Houston man allegedly decapitated his own mother and stabbed his father not long after he was released from jail for previously punching his 76-year-old mom in the face. The father’s wounds are non-fatal, according to the Associated Press.

Kyriakos Savvas Georghiou was not supposed to be at his parents’ home. There was a protective order in place against him after he allegedly assaulted his mother in April. Georghiou’s attorney, Jeffrey Wilner, said the parents posted Georghiou’s $10,000 bail in the assault case last month. From there, Georghiou was supposed to be receiving mental health treatment.

“The mother loved him. His dad loved him. … I’m just in shock,” Wilner said Monday. He said if he knew Georghiou, 27, was a danger to his family he “would have called the police and told his dad not to bond him out.”

On Friday, Georghiou allegedly went to his family’s home and began stabbing his mom Jane Georghiou. Her husband Costas Georghiou tried to protect her and was subsequently stabbed several in the face and chest, according to the AP. He allegedly stabbed his mother until she was decapitated. Georghiou’s father was in critical condition but his condition has been upgraded to fair, hospital officials said Monday.

In 2014, Georghiou was also in trouble for punching his mother. He was sentenced to three years after pleading guilty to a charge of injury to an elderly individual for an assault that left the mother with broken teeth, according to the Houston Chronicle.

“They (his parents) tried everything they could for him,” Georghiou’s attorney said. “I thought everything was OK when he bonded out.”
