Nicki Minaj's Brother Convicted Of Raping 11-Year-Old Stepdaughter

Jelani Maraj reportedly faces 25 years to life in prison.

On Thursday, Nicki Minaj's brother was convicted of raping his stepdaughter. According to New York Daily News, Jelani Maraj was convicted of repeatedly raping the 11-year-old girl in their Long Island home. He was convicted of predatory sexual assault against a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

The accuser, who is now 14, testified that 38-year-old Maraj anally raped her, slapped her in the face and ordered her to remain silent about his actions. The victim's younger brother allegedly discovered the abuse, walking in while Maraj was assaulting the girl.

On December 1, 2015, Maraj was arrested on charges of predatory assault, second-degree course of sexual conduct and a misdemeanor charge of acting in a manner likely to injure a child. He denied the charges. He was reportedly bailed on $100,000, backed by two of his famous sister's homes.

According to CBS News, Maraj's attorney said he will appeal, as he believes the sexual assault allegations were a ploy by Maraj’s now ex-wife, Jacqueline Robinson, who allegedly wanted to extort him for $25 million to keep quiet.

Assistant District Attorney Emma Slane dismissed these claims as “absolute absurdity." The defense attorney David Schwartz also accused Maraj’s ex-wife of planting DNA evidence.

“It’s all about money and it’s all about revenge,” Schwartz reportedly told the jury.

Nicki Minaj was not called as a witness, and she has not publicly commented on the case. Maraj also did not testify on his own behalf.

As People shares, he faces 25 years to life behind bars. He is currently in Nassau County Jail and is set to be sentenced next month.
