Suge Knight Says Dr. Dre Sent Hitmen To Kill Him
"We hope that Suge’s lawyer has lots of malicious-prosecution insurance," says a rep for Dre.
Rap game beef gets nasty these days, but for the older generation of hip-hop pioneers, ish gets deadly. Amidst his own murder trial, Suge Knight is taking to the courts to sue Dr. Dre for hiring at least two hitmen to have him eliminated once and for all.
According to Suge, Dre owed the Death Row Records founder 30 percent of his earnings, but instead of paying up, Dre hired assassins to take out Suge.
More specifically: Suge is asserting that he had a lifetime contract with Dre and was owed upwards of $300 million after Dre's billion dollar deal with Apple over Beats by Dre. Suge went on to accuse Dre for the shooting at 1Oak nightclub back in 2014, saying that the incident was a hired hit.
Referring to the aforementioned shooting, Suge is claiming the LAPD had investigated a man named T-Money who said he was hired by Dre for $50,000. That night, Suge was shot seven times in the stomach but somehow lived to tell the tale.
It gets even more complicated: Knight goes on to claim that following his recovery from the shooting, Dre hired another hitman named Cle “Bone” Sloan for $300,000. Suge says the death of Terry Carter, which occurred during the filming of Straight Outta Compton, went down as part of Knight's attempt to escape the hit.
Dre's legal team seems to be rather nonplussed by the suit. “Given that Dre has had zero interaction with Suge since leaving Death Row Records in 1996, we hope that Suge’s lawyer has lots of malicious-prosecution insurance," said Howard King representing Dre.
