Teacher Shot To Death In Front Of Family As He Protected Them During Home Invasion

He died trying to protect his wife and two young daughters.

A middle school teacher in Oklahoma was shot to death in front of his family while trying to protect them during a home invasion. Shane Anderson, 44, a geography teacher Oneta Ridge Middle School, was killed in front of his wife and two young daughters on Sunday, according to Inside Edition.

“I am devastated by the news of Mr. Anderson’s tragic passing,” said Broken Arrow Public Schools Superintendent Janet Dunlop. “Our hearts are breaking for his family, and we will support them every way possible during this unimaginable time.”

A teen was arrested in connection of the murder. Police suspect 16-year-old Deonte Green of being on a crime spree. He’s also accused of kidnapping an elderly couple  at gunpoint 30 minutes before breaking into Anderson’s home. In that incident, the teen allegedly forced the couple to withdraw cash from an ATM. He then allegedly raped the wife.

In the later incident, Anderson reportedly attacked the teen assailant. Green shot the teacher before fleeing on foot.

“The husband fought with Green, and Green shot the husband,” Sgt. Dave Walker, with the Tulsa Police Department, said in a statement, as reported by Tulsa World. “The husband continued to struggle with Green before collapsing inside the house.”

Twelve hours after Anderson was shot, the Green allegedly robbed yet another couple at gunpoint. The suspect has been charged with murder, robbery and sexual assault.

“He was well-loved by his students,”  Oneta Ridge Principal Mike Replogle told FOX 23. A GoFundMe has been set up for Anderson's family.
