Ted Cruz Was Reported To Twitter For Liking X-Rated Porn Video

Many anticipate Cruz's team to claim his account was hacked.

Senator Ted Cruz, who had previously campaigned for president on a platform of far-right beliefs to court evangelical Christians, could be seen "liking" an X-rated pornographic tweet on his verified account on social media last night, according to The Verge.

"Liking" the tweet caused the graphic two-minute video to appear on Cruz's timeline for about 30 minutes before being taken down. It's unclear if this was Cruz's doing or if it was the work of a staffer.

Cruz's staff have since offered the following statement on the subject, which did little to explain the situation:

Cruz's team seems to have reported the incident to Twitter.

Although the tweet is no longer viewable in Cruz's timeline, screenshots of the blunder are being shared widely throughout the internet today.

The NSFW account that originally shared the video has since changed their Twitter bio to read: "Follow for the Same Porn @TedCruz Watches."

This isn't the first time Ted Cruz has faced humiliation on social media: During the election, an absurdist joke, which linked the Texas politician to the crimes of the infamous Zodiac serial killer, went viral, inspiring a series of t-shirts whose profits went toward pro-choice causes as an objection to Cruz's staunchly anti-choice beliefs.

During the 2016 campaign for the Presidency, Cruz's team also released a video in which one of the actresses was later discovered to have a history in the adult entertainment business

Cruz has previously attempted to mount a legal attack on citizens' rights to own sex toys. In 2007, Cruz and his legal team argued that “obscene devices do not implicate any liberty interest.”
