The North Korean media outlet Rodong Sinmun called Donald Trump “a hideous criminal sentenced to death” following a speech made by the American president to the South Korean parliament last week.
In his speech, Trump called North Korea “hell” and urged leader Kim Jong-un to give up his nuclear weapons.
Though North Korean media took a week to respond, as Newsweek notes, they called Trump’s speech a “declaration of war.”
The commentary also came just a few days after Trump called Kim Jong-un “short and fat,” in response to Kim calling Trump “old.”
“Trump, who is no more than an old slave of money, dared point an accusing finger at the sun,” the commentary said.
“He should know that he is just a hideous criminal sentenced to death by the Korean people. He will be forced to pay dearly for his blasphemy any moment,” it continued. “The one who violated the dignity of the people and insulted them should never expect their pardon.”
"The Korean people will regard the face of Trump as a symbol of wolf-like US imperialism and as a target of merciless retaliation and send him to the hell he likes so much to tout," it explained.
North Korea most recently tested an intermediate range ballistic missile two months ago, on September 15.
