A young man in Massachusetts is accused of murdering his girlfriend and then attending a family party. According to People, 20-year-old Benjamin Walsh is a suspect in the killing of his 20-year-old girlfriend Olivia Bergstrom. He then went to a family birthday party and allegedly stabbed both of his parents.

The incident occurred on Saturday night following the stabbing at the Primavera restaurant. Both parents are expected to recover. Laura Walsh, the mother, was in serious condition on Monday while her husband was released after being treated. Apparently, Walsh's other family members were able to subdue Benjamin and tie him up until authorities came to the scene.

Witnesses at the scene describe Walsh as making violent, verbal threats at the restaurant. As CBS Boston reports, witnesses overheard him proclaim, "I'm going to kill everyone!" Jerry Gaita, the owner of the restaurant, was leaving the restaurant when his employee called him about the incident.

“I turned back into the parking lot ran in the front door to make sure the manager was on the phone calling the police. That’s when I went into the room and saw the mom on the ground,” he said.

The same knife used against the parents was the murder weapon used on Bergstrom. Her body was found in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend in Needham that same day. She had been stabbed to death, according to a prosecution source speaking to People. There was blood on the carpet, walls and stairs of the home.

According to the Boston Herald, Benjamin Walsh was arraigned at an intensive care unit of Milford Medical Center, his wrists chained to his hospital bed. He pleaded not guilty, and his defense attorney, Randall K. Power, said: “His mental health, or lack thereof, is going to be a major issue going forward. From what I’ve seen so far, it certainly appears to be an aberration from his behavior.”

Bergstorm's grandfather released a statement on behalf of her family: "

Devastated does not even begin to describe how we feel about losing our Olivia. Olivia was a smart, vibrant, beautiful young woman with a bright future ahead of her. She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and friend. Olivia was a lover of animals who never met a horse she couldn’t win over. She was passionate about living a healthy life. She had a dog named Scarlett. She loved her family fiercely. Our hearts are broken at the thought of Olivia not being in our lives, taken from us and her future in a way we cannot comprehend. We know her spirit remains with us and we will do everything in our power to keep her memory alive and celebrate the short time we had the privilege of having her in our lives. We ask for our privacy and your respect at this time as our family begins the long journey of rebuilding our lives." Following his arrest, Walsh spent the night in Milford Hospital. He has pleaded not guilty.
