10 Celebrities Who Were Arrested In 2017

From probation violations to public drunkennes, these are the celebs who got in trouble with the law this year.

This year was filled with newsworthy crime moments, and celebrities were no stranger to making headlines. Though their crimes varied in severity and punishment, from probation violations and public drunkenness to drag racing allegations and tax evasion, all of these celebrities found themselves in trouble with the law.

These are 10 stars who were arrested in 2017:

1. Meek Mill

Meek Mill kicked off the year with his chart-topping album Wins and Losses. The Philly rapper experienced the latter when he was sentenced to two to four years in prison for a probation violation in November, according to NBC Philadelphia.

First, he was arrested for misdemeanor assault after getting into an altercation at a St. Louis airport. In August, he was arrested for driving recklessly through New York City on his dirt bike. Although both charges were reduced, or dropped altogether, the judge in his case decided to send him back to jail. He is currently appealing that decision.

2. Hannibal Buress

Hannibal Buress is known for telling it how it is. The comedian, who famously outed Bill Cosby in his standup, was arrested for disorderly intoxication during Art Basel, according to the Miami Herald.

"Am I under arrest? For what?” Buress asks in a video that went viral of the arrest. “Explain what I’m detained for. What I am detained for?”

The officer says, "For trespassing."

The comedian says, "You know y'all goofy as f---" and that the police “don't have probable cause for anything."

Buress has released no statement at this time.

3. Aaron Carter

Aaron Carter has shed his boy-next-door image. Over the summer, the former singer was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana, according to CNN.

"I take Xanax, Propranolol for high blood pressure medication, and I took oxycodones for my mouth," he said tearfully following the incident.

4. Naya Rivera

This Thanksgiving weekend turned dark for Naya Rivera. The former "Glee" star was arrested for domestic battery for allegedly attacking her husband, according to CNN.

According to a police press release, Ryan Dorsey said Rivera "struck him in the head and face." The pair have had a tumultuous relationship. In November 2016, Rivera filed for divorce but reportedly called it off in October 2017.

Rivera has released no statement at this time.

5. Rose McGowan

In 2017, Rose McGowan was one of the most vocal celebrities to speak out about Hollywood sexual abuse. The actress was arrested for having trace amounts of narcotics on the belongings she left at Washington Dulles International Airport in January, according to CNN.

At the time, she implied that authorities were trying to silence her for speaking out against Hollywood honchos like Harvey Weinstein.

“Are they trying to silence me?” she tweeted about a warrant for her arrest. “What a load of horsesh**.”

6. Fetty Wap

Fetty Wap dominated the charts with "Trap Queen" in 2015. The rapper-turned-reality star was arrested for drag racing in Brooklyn last month, according to the New York Daily News. Living in the fast lane led to charges of illegal speed, reckless endangerment, DWI, reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation vehicle.

According to People, a representative for the artist declined to comment on the arrest.

7. DMX

DMX has had run-ins with the law for several years. This year, the "Get At Me Dog" rapper came up against Uncle Sam for owing millions in back taxes, according to CNBC.

Authorities alleged he concealed millions to avoid paying nearly $2 million to the IRS. DMX has not released a statement at this time.

8. Nelly

Rapper Nelly was on tour when he was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a fan, according to CNN. He was released without being charged, but the incident reportedly involved suspicion of second-degree rape, which means the victim was allegedly incapable of consent whether due to being physically helpless or mentally incapacitated.

According to Billboard, Nelly's team released a statement, saying, "Nelly has suffered very real damage to his reputation. He has incurred economic loss and painfully has watched his family suffer. As a result, Nelly is planning to proceed with litigation as the first step in restoring his reputation."

9. Nicholas Brendon

Nicholas Brendon was known for playing Xander Harris on the TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." In October, he was arrested for allegedly pulling his girlfriend's arm and hair during an argument at a bar in Palm Springs, according to the New York Daily News. She had protective orders against him in two states, according to The Desert Sun.

Brendon has not released a statement at this time.

10. Shia LeBeouf

Shia LaBeouf was arrested for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and obstruction in July, according to CNN. A video of the incident, which shows the actor belligerent and cursing, surfaced after his arrest. This was his second arrest this year.

In January, he was charged with harassment and misdemeanor assault for getting into a scuffle at an anti-Trump rally, according to CNN.

LaBeouf released a statement, saying, "My outright disrespect for authority is problematic to say the least, and completely destructive to say the worst. I have been struggling with addiction publicly for too long, and I am actively taking steps toward securing my sobriety and hope I can be forgiven for my mistakes."
