Mother And Boyfriend Accused Of Murdering 3-Year-Old Boy, Encasing His Body In Concrete

The body was found in the couple's rented home after they had moved out.

The body of a 3-year-old boy was discovered encased in concrete at a Wichita, Kansas home back in September. Now, the child’s mother and her boyfriend are being charged with first-degree murder. On Tuesday, Miranda Miller and Stephen Bodine were charged for Evan Brewer’s death, according to The New York Times. The couple is expected to appear in court this week, and at this time, it is unclear if they have lawyers who can speak on their behalf.

A landlord discovered Brewer’s body while cleaning out the home after Miller and Bodine had moved out. According to The New York Times, the landlord noticed a foul smell exuding through a concrete structure in the home. The couple, however, was already in jail on prior, unrelated charges, and each of them are now being held on $500,000 bail.

Evan's dad, Carlo Brewer, was concerned about his son’s welfare before he died, and he contacted authorities several times. According to the child’s stepmother, Bodine threatened to “chop her up” when she and the child’s father went to the home where human remains were later found.

She posted about the incident on Facebook in August. The post read, “I knock on the door where my stepson was last seen (which is supposedly vacant) and this guy Stephen Bodine aka Bo yells thru the door and says he’s holding him hostage in the basement, threatens to “chop” me up “into little pieces” and proceeds to open the door, tries to attack with a hatchet, then busts our tire. I got it all on video and YES police were called. Please keep an eye out especially if you’re around the area of May St. And Vine near Pawnee and Seneca!!!”
