Rapper Lil Pump Arrested For Firing Gun Inside His Home
The rising star was allegedly booked into a juvenile detention center.
Rising hip-hop star Lil Pump has been arrested for firing a gun off in his home. According to TMZ, Pump (real name Gazzy Garcia) was arrested Wednesday night at his San Fernando Valley home. The reasons for the incident are disputed, but the "Gucci Gang" rapper says that he was the target of an attack.
According to law enforcement, Pump's manager reported that three men were trying to open the front door of his home, and the suspects fired a gun once through the door. This was information given to the manager by the rapper. Authorities did find a bullet hole in the front door. However, there were no suspects on the scene. They said that the 17-year-old had been smoking marijuana.
Upon interviewing him, they felt that the initial story had gaps in it. The trajectory of the bullet hole actually showed that it came from inside the home, per police. When authorities returned to the scene a few hours later with a search warrant, they found a handgun in the bushes below the balcony. The weapon itself was unloaded, but ammo was found inside the home.
Authorities believe that Pump had fired the gun into the door. His team, however, dismisses this. Pump was arrested for discharging a weapon in an inhabited place. Coupled with the marijuana, authorities are now investigating Pump's mother for allegedly leaving a gun and drugs in the possession of a minor.
The Blast added that the rapper was booked into the Los Angeles Central Juvenile Hall and released shortly after. He's now reportedly on house arrest and wearing an ankle bracelet.
Pump has enjoyed a lot of success with his single "Gucci Gang." As XXL reported, the song was certified platinum last month. Pump's single made history on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, as it became the shortest song to reach the Top 10 since 1975. It currently has over 527 million views on YouTube.
“People don’t really compare me to anybody. They just say I’m a mumble rapper. I’m fine with that. I don’t really care. It’s not negative; I guess it’s just that ignorant sh*t," he told XXL earlier. "[My music] is just saying reckless sh*t on a song but going with the flow so they’re still going to fu*k with it, even though you’re saying some off the wall sh*t."
Last month, DJ Khaled expressed interest in signing the upstart to his We The Best label.
