Green Week
green your scene
Bryan (Los Angeles, CA)
- I keep my water heater at a lower hot setting to save on gas.
- I bike for my weekend errands and to do anything within a biking distance of my house (my goal is to not use my car at all on weekends).
- I use cloth bags wherever I shop.
- I buy milk in glass bottles and avoid over-packaged food or personal care products.
- I pull the plug on any charger or electronic I can that has the draining AC adaptors.
Natalia (New York, NY)
- I don't get plastic bags from grocery stores anymore. I have 3 reusable ones at home that I always bring with me when I know I'll be going grocery shopping.
Erica (New York, NY)
- I re-use the plastic packaging that my sheets and clothes come in to store crafts and projects. They usually have a zipper on the side and close up tightly so I can keep my knitting projects dust free. They're also good to store out of season decorations and to organize small items in your closet.
Julie (New York, NY)
- I bought a bicycle and have started to use it to run local errands with my recyclable shopping bag!
Dana (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ)
- I compost all of our food waste and use it to fertilize our garden in the spring.
Jill (New York, NY)
- I drink water out of my Klean Kanteen every day at work instead of drinking out of a plastic bottle.
Lauren (New York, NY)
- I carry in my bag a folded plastic or cloth bag (they can easily be made quite compact) so that if I stop at the store on the way home, I don't need to get another plastic bag to carry things home in.
