The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency

janice
Well…so much to say. A new day, a new start! It was a fresh beginning for my love child of an agency, and it's all been laid out for you. The show, I must say, was a lot more difficult than it looks on TV. The first thing I have to share with you is how intense open calls are for me. To find the "IT" factor and operate strictly from instinct is not easy for me or for the hopeful models whose heads are on the chopping block. I hate rejection, and as anyone knows, models can be so convinced every time that they are what the modeling world has been missing. Lucky for me, I have Duke and Gabrial who remind me that "dreams can turn into insanity when someone becomes blind to their own reflection in the mirror." I am not sure if I want to be the reality check for anyone, but that's the position I have been put in.
For anyone who thinks I missed out on seeing you, don't stop showing up for my open
calls. Knock on every door until they take the door away -- that's what I had to do.
On this episode, I talk about the "IT" factor, but let me give you the whole breakdown
of what I mean.
#1: Height and Proportion
Models are, by job description, tall, thin, and perfectly laid out. It's one rule
in the fashion world you can't get past.
#2: The Take-Your-Breath-Away Presence
The perfect definition of this is any picture of Veruschka shot by the great Richard
Avedon.
#3: Finally, Fire Inside
What model hopefuls lack today is the fire within. This is what drives us to get what
we're destined to have. We simply can't live without it. I run into models all the
time who can't decide if they want to be a model or an actor. If you want to be a
model with your mind, body, and spirit, it would show all over you. Like a guiding
light bringing a ship carrying Dior, Dolce, and Lacroix…to the next "IT" girl, "IT"
guy, or "IT" GAY.
Indecision will stop any dream from happening. In this episode, I picked nine new
models. Some I think you'll see were easy choices and others are my projects. Feel
free to tell me what you think! I stand by my choices.
Bringing OTTO Models into the picture has given the agency a fresh perspective that I welcome, and I have had great success so far with this partnership. I think for now I am going to let you tell me about the model house. All I will say is that it did what I needed it to do. I find that if you put your personal life, professional life, and your unedited self under one microscope, you really become aware of who you are. More than anything, the model house is my pressure cooker of dreams. It helps me separate the ones who have a real goal to be a model and in the end, the ones who were just there to be on a TV show.
This season I will find who wants to be a model or a "model actor." It's going to
be a wild ride, so come along each week for all the excitement!
Love,
Janice
