A Chat with Tamar: "I Did It For My Daughter"
Tamar is a bit of a Renaissance woman: she’s a mother, a bartender, an aspiring actress, and she is featured on Oxygen’s new series My Big Fat Revenge. On the show, you’ll see women like Tamar--who have been put down by others because of their size-- get healthy and then get payback on those who hurt them. We caught up with Tamar for a quick chat about what motivated her to finally get fit and get closure after struggling with being overweight all her life. Scroll down to read this fun, fascinating Q&A and don’t miss Tamar’s debut on My Big Fat Revenge, premiering September 3 at 9/8c!
What made you want to be on the show?
I did it for my daughter. I wanted to get fit and stay healthy for her. I also wanted to challenge and inspire myself. I’m an aspiring actress, so my new look has definitely helped me get more roles. I also inspire TO inspire. A lot of people are so amazed by my body now, and it feels great to help others have that hope to get in shape.
What might have held you back from losing weight before?
I was just stubborn. I envisioned myself losing weight before hitting 30, but I just needed the right trainer and at the time I had insufficient funds. Tools and education helped me lose the weight too: eating habits, etc.
Were you nervous to have your insecurities displayed on TV?
I’m never nervous! I take risks. One time I was dared to run naked in my building and I did! I’m an entertainer. I want the world to see me for who I am. That was me when I was down, and I wanted people to see me rise from that as well. If I can do it, you can do it too. Your body is a machine and your mind is the controller.
What are some positive qualities about yourself that you wished people focused on instead of criticizing you?
My personality is very loud… just like Oxygen’s “Live out loud!” I’m easy to open up and I’m very social. What people will see is the fight in me… blood, sweat and tears.
Tune into 'My Big Fat Revenge' on September 3 at 9/8c!
