Susie Says: I'm Sad 'The Face' Is Over!
Gowns, judges, gorgeous girls holding hands….I felt like I was watching a pageant! Only thing missing was a crown!
The Frederic Fekkai beauty empire has its newest spokesperson and the crown goes to Tiana from Team Anne. Let’s be honest, I don’t think anyone was surprised here. Tiana has been a favorite from the very beginning; the one to beat for the past few weeks. She was a consistent competitor and came out on top in the end.
Afiya did her best to give Tiana a run for her money though! That girl never once set foot in the elimination room the entire season. Impressive! Can we please give her some sort of prize for that!? America’s Next Top Miss Congeniality, perhaps? Just sayin…
And can we talk about my homegirl Ray for a minute? She was hilarious with her, “Slam dunk, bitches” comment! Clearly she was feeling pretty darn confident, so I thought it might compel Frederic to pick her. Not so much. I think we were all a bit shocked that Ray made it to the final 3, but in retrospect, she always sort of seemed to be Frederic’s favorite ever since the makeover episode.
But the truth is that Ray, Afiya and Tiana all have what it takes to make it in the world of modeling, and they’re all deserving of being “The Face.” They certainly look the part and have proven beyond a doubt that they have the mental toughness required to be in the limelight.
It’s funny, as a former Miss USA, I was having flashbacks to when I was competing in the pageant! It was the MOST nerve-racking experience of my life! Truth be told, it was the most nervous I’ve ever been in my entire life. There was so much on the line -- My entire career! Afiya, Ray and Tiana were dealing with the very same crazy-high stakes!
Ray, the underdog of the competition, had the weakest walk, but what a sweet and humble girl she is! Her demeanor is so endearing and that counts for a lot in life. As they say, “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.” Relatability is a game-changer, so it was incredibly smart of her to connect with Frederic Fekkai by relaying her personal story. She found something they had in common and I’m sure that went a long way. Good stuff.
Btw, how cool is it that we got to see the Supermodel Coaches strut their stuff down the runway tonight!? All season long we’ve seen them critique and mentor the girls, and now we finally caught a glimpse of what THEY can do. And they proved they’ve got maaaad skillz! Werk!
Not gonna lie, I’m super bummed that one of my favorite “Oxygen” shows has now come to el fin, but I’m excited for season 3! Until then, I guess we’ll all just have to miss Naomi’s biting personality J
So, what do you think of the season finale? Did the right girl win?
