Twenty-one-year-old Devyn Abdullah beat out 12 other hopeful models and thousands of potential competitors to be crowned winner of The Face... but this wasn't her only obstacle. Born in the Bronx, Devyn was 19 and fresh out of high school when she became pregnant with her daughter-- but she didn't let motherhood stop her from following her dream to become a model. Instead, she embraced her role as Mommy and serves as an inspiration to other moms with ambitious career goals. We caught up with Devyn to see how her life has changed since we last saw her on camera.
How has your life changed since being on The Face?
My life has taken a change for the awesome! I'm traveling doing meet and greets with Ulta Beauty... meeting so many different people, having so many different opportunities come my way. It honestly has been a blessing. Post show life is the easiest part and the fun part! It's still work, but it's fun and rewarding. I'm just enjoying it. The cherry on top is the fact that my daughter can be a part of it as well.
Can you tell us about your experience being the face of ULTA beauty?
It has been amazing becoming “The Face” of Ulta Beauty. I’m traveling with ULTA Beauty as their Brand Ambassador, meeting lots of people at their Grand Opening Launch, signing autographs and enjoying each and every minute. More specifically, I enjoy the experience of meeting the fans that often share with me that I have been an inspiration to them... listening to my story, seeing that I am a human being just like they are and knowing that it is possible to achieve and overcome all obstacles. I went on the show to change my life, and knowing my story has actually inspired so many other women as well, makes me feel amazing.
Are you recognized on the street now since being on the show?
YES and I love every second of it! No matter where I am people recognize me. Walking down the street people give me shout outs...school kids followed me for 4 blocks one time just to get my attention and say hello. Some people are so overwhelmed with joy that they start crying in front of me just because they are inspired by my story or just inspired by everything that I went through. It gives me a great feeling.
Where’s the most interesting place you’ve traveled as a result of your recent modeling?
Chicago was fun, and there's much more to come, so you will have to stay tuned to see where I will be next. It will be an amazing destination so…all I will say for now is that you have to follow me on Twitter and Instagram @xoDEVYNxo.

Do you still keep in touch with anyone from the show?
Yes, Ebony. We were really close on the show and have a strong bond. Karolina keeps in contact with both of us, and has been a great help to me.
How is it being a mom and balancing your modeling career?
GOD IS GOOD. I never could have imagined being at this point. It was difficult before finding babysitters and asking family member for help when it was time for me to work. But, now I am able to see and spend time with my daughter everyday. She travels with me to photo shoots sometimes she's apart of the photo shoots with me. This is how I've always known my life should be and it feels good to live life as you imagined.
You said you were considering creating a nonprofit for young moms. Have you made any progress with that?
Yes, I have made progress. It is not yet complete however. Much of my business days involve many promotional events, appearances, castings, photo shoots, and new project creation. There are many other projects that are in the works. I can give you a sneak peek into one particular project that I am working on in conjunction with a designer: check out www.amerikanoutkast.com.
