Nigel Barker's Best & Worst Fashion Week Moments (Spoiler Alert: He Fell Off The Runway)

We know that Nigel Barker is a steady fixture in the Fashion Week front rows, but did you know that he used to walk the runway back in the day, too? Since NYFW officially kicks off today (although, the festivities started days earlier), let's have Nigel wax nostalgic and tell us his Best and Worst Fashion Week Moments. Hint: They involve Naomi CampbellClaudia Schiffer and an epic runway tumble. Naomi's got nothin' on you, Nigel.

The Best:

There have been a few over the years, but I'll start with this great Fashion Week moment. I was in Paris and booked to walk in the Chanel couture show. I remember walking into the changing room and there in front of me getting ready were Claudia Schiffer, Nadja Auermann, Meghan Douglas and the already legendary Naomi Campbell ... It was my job to carry them on my shoulders down the runway, Karl Lagerfeld was on hand backstage talking us through the various steps … as you can imagine this is exactly the kind of Fashion Week moment we all live for.

The Worst:

My worst moment came during a Milan Fashion week while I was doing a show for Gianfranco Ferrè. Something I ate from the buffet served at the show didn't agree with me and I very quickly started to feel light headed. I remember getting onto that runway with hot flushes kicking in and while walking down the catwalk, I had to guess how many steps I had until the end of the runway, as I was beginning to black out! I thought if I calculated how many more strides I needed to make I could make it to the end, turn around and get off even if I wasn't completely compos mentis. Unfortunately, I miscalculated and fell off the runway….
