Glee Music: Episode 15 - Sexy
Last night’s episode was a mixed bag of awkward and hilarious moments, but don’t be mistaken: following Holly Holliday’s example, the Glee writers gave us a fun and exciting episode while slipping us a serious message about sex.
There was plenty of music to go around, and guest-star Gwyneth Paltrow proved once again that she has the musical chops to go with her movie-star status and I’m excited to see how the show develops this relationship with her and Will.
Reminding us that the 70s and 80s had some great music, G-Pal rocked out with the New Directions kids in Joan Jett’s “Don’t You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah),” danced a sultry tango while singing Prince’s “Kiss” with Will, and helped Brittany and Santana work through their feelings with Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”
All of those were great numbers for different reasons (Will’s “Too Much?” sign, Prince’s music set to a tango, etc), but my highlight of the three was the unlikely trio of Brittany, Santana, and Holly absolutely killing “Landslide.” The song was a perfect accent of the night’s message that sex always means more than sex, and it hurts when we give ourselves to someone physically but don’t receive the emotional commitment that’s supposed to come with it. How great was Naya Rivera as Santana last night? I wanted to cry right along with her.
So there’s my take on the night. What about you? What was your "Sexy" musical highlight?
