Tori's Home Style
I have a huge passion for interior design. I love mixing styles. I used to be into shabby chic and antiques and then I went modern. Now, I love mixing different styles and elements. I love mixing Hollywood regency, modern, antiques, and resort inspired living. And, now that I'm a mom I try to make the furniture and design as kid friendly as I can. I do all the designing myself. I love details and colors and patterns so I would want to use someone else vision. I do have friends with amazing taste so Suzanne, Jenny, and James often lend their help and opinions. And, the Guncles have amazing taste and like to help arrange trinkets and antiques and always add to my collection when they travel. For 1st timers... Have fun! Be creative and trust your instinct. Don't feel pressured to decorate every room at once. You should do the basics like paint, curtains, and couch/ bed/ chairs first. Then live with it and add pieces and details as you live with it. I love to sometimes wait on the little pieces in a room and then wait until we travel and add little pieces like a lamp, or a vase, or a picture frame. Then when we sit in our living room I can say we have pieces around the room that mean something because each place we've traveled as a family. I'm obsessed with wallpaper! If you can't break the bank and decorate a whole room just add wallpaper and it makes a world of difference! Also, framed photos are the new art! Art can be expensive so take some of your fave photos of you and friends, your spouse, your kids and get black and white copies and just frame yourself from Aaron Brothers or the like. I make picture clusters on a wall and it totally transforms a room!I spent the most time decorating our bedroom and the kid's rooms We have busy lives and two kids and at the end of the day our bedroom is our peaceful sanctuary to decompress and be together. I wanted it chic and luxurious and calming at the same time, which is why I chose the light blue color palate. I love antiques and g oto the Pasadena Rose Bowl flea market often. I also like to go to 1stdibs.com online and I like Modern One, Little Paris, Woodson and Rummelfield, and Craig Olson. These are all in LA. I also love to go downtown for wallpaper, rugs, and fabric for drapes. F and S fabrics in Los Angeles has amazing fabrics to recover furniture and also Silk Trading Company on La Brea. I love the style of Kelly Wearstler, Jonathan Adler, Woodson and Rummelfield, Slim Arons, and Tony Duquette.
