In the scene where Jenny receives two dictionaries, the top dictionary is still wrapped when her father answers the door to greet David. The scene is continuous, however once David appears near the table with his presents, both dictionaries are now unwrapped on top of each other on the table. James Cameron originally attempted to get this film made in 1999 as his immediate follow-up to Titanic (1997). However, at the time, the special effects he wanted for the movie ran the proposed budget up to $400 million and no studio would fund the film. Quentin Tarantino intended for this to be as much a war film as a spaghetti western, and considered titling the movie "Once Upon a Time in Nazi-Occupied France". He gave that title instead to the first chapter of the film. Around six different movie endings were created during filming.
