6 Things You Should Never Say To Your Single Friends

Friends don't let friends make these mistakes.

Being single can be amazing. You're independent. You're free to do whatever you want and the future is full of possibilities. Being single is a choice for many women, and life is good...Until your best friend says something totally stupid that kills your vibe and makes you feel like a dateless freak. Sometimes well-meaning friends in relationships say the absolute worst things. Here are six things you should never say to your single friends.

Are You...Ok?

Being single is not a fatal illness. Stop treating us like we are going to die or have the Zika virus. P.S. It's not contagious.

But You're So Pretty!

This is something women get all the time. I can't believe you're single, you're so pretty! Thanks for the compliment but beauty has nothing to do with singledom. Rihanna is single, okay?

Are You Making Room For Him?

Reading too much of The Secret has women wondering whether their lives are "too full" and we need to prepare for a man. Don't tell us to sleep on one side of the bed or to start cooking for two to "prepare for him." I'll jump in the middle of my bed and eat two steaks because I feel like it.

Be Specific (But Don't Be Too Picky?!)

Single people are always told to make lists. Please don't tell us to make lists and create vision boards of the perfect match. Nothing has ever been solved with a vision board.

On the other hand, these same folks will tell you, don't be too picky! This contradictory advice forces single people to date anyone regardless of compatibility. Sure, I'll totally date that troll from under the Brooklyn Bridge because God forbid I be picky.

Meditate and Affirm It!

Ommmmm. Meditation and creating affirmations are great in attaining inner peace. Unless you're trying to date Oprah, it's probably going to do little in finding a significant other.

You'll Find Someone One Day!

We never asked but we appreciate your nosiness and optimism.
