A judge has ruled that Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend Nick Gordon is "legally responsible" for her death. According to USA Today, the ruling from a Georgia court comes after the conservator of Bobbi's estate filed a wrongful death civil lawsuit against Gordon in 2015.
In the suit, Bobbi's former mate was accused of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and transferring money from her bank account into his without authorization.
“In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown,” said R. David Ware, the lawyer for the conservator. “The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon’s answer that he is legally responsible for her death. The only thing left to prove is the value of her life. We intend to do that. Bobbi Brown, the father, represented by Craig Terry, will put on evidence as well. But on behalf of the estate, we're going to demonstrate to the jury, the value of her life. Mr. Gordon will not put on any evidence in contradiction of that.”
No criminal charges have been filed - although Gordon did testify in front of a grand jury in 2015 - but the lawsuit sought $50 million in damages.
Bobbi Kristina was the only daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. She was found unresponsive in her bathtub in January 2015 and remained in a medically-induced coma until July 26. Earlier this year, an autopsy found her cause of death to be the combination of immersing her face under water and mixed drug intoxication.
