Transparent, a TV show so good that most of my queer friends AND my mom love it, is looking toward its third season. Writer Jill Soloway has recently revealed that the show will introduce a new character played by none other than controversial LGBT icon Caitlyn Jenner -- although in what capacity she's set to appear is yet to be determined.
The news comes by way of Deadline, who suggested that filming on the new season begins next week. Jill Soloway had just announced the casting decision at the GLAAD Media Awards this past weekend in Los Angeles, saying to the AP:
“We are all part of the same community. A lot of the trans women who work on our show are also in her show I am Cait. Lots of crossover. Lots of friends.”
Soloway was tight-lipped about the writing of Caitlyn's character and whether or not she'll be playing herself or someone entirely new.
Meanwhile, both I Am Cait and Transparent fared rather well at the GLAAD Media Awards, with I Am Cait tying I Am Jazz for the Outstanding Reality Program award. Transparent was named Outstanding Comedy Series.
