Chris Rock Is Officially Hosting The Oscars
Hollywood, be afraid. Be very afraid.
The Oscars are being hosted by Chris Rock! After rumors and speculation, it’s official that the 88th annual Academy Awards will be hosted by the comedian on February 28th. “Look who's back. #Oscars,” he posted on Twitter, holding the famous statuette.
“Chris may be best known as a stand-up comic, but we think of him as a creative innovator in many other ways. He is unafraid in his artistry,” Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said in a statement. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome him back to the Oscars.”
This isn’t the first time that Chris has taken the Oscar stage. He hosted the awards in 2005. Back in 2005, Chris ruffled a few feathers when he made fun of actor Jude Law by saying, “Who is
Jude Law? Why is he in every movie I have seen in the last four years. He’s in everything?” This prompted Sean Penn to defend his friend with, “He’s (Law) one of our finest actors.”
Later, Chris said that he and Jude had no beef. “It’s just a joke. Jude Law probably made a scillion (sic) dollars this year. I would never hit a person that’s down. Jude Law‘s fine. I’ll go and see another Jude Law movie; maybe he’ll put me in one of his movies.”
We can’t wait to see who he offends this time.
