Janet Jackson, 49, Is Pregnant. What Are The Risks?
Congrats to the singer! She's expecting her first child at the age of 49.
Congratulations are in order for Janet Jackson! Sources close to Jackson have confirmed that the singer is in fact expecting her first child with husband Wissam Al Mana.
A source close to the family told E! News that Jackson is in her second trimester, and that the pregnancy was achieved after Jackson and Al Mana began working with a fertility specialist.
The news comes just weeks after Jackson announced that she'd be postponing her Unbreakable world tour in order to focus on building her family. Many at the time speculated that Jackson would be adopting or using a surrogate. The singer is 49 years old, and according to the Southern California Center for Reproductive Medicine, women over the age of 45 have less than a 1% chance of getting pregnant using their own eggs. If a woman over that age becomes pregnant using her own eggs, the risk of a miscarriage increases greatly.
We send wishes for a healthy and happy pregnancy!
