Courtney Love Is Nasty Gal's Newest Designer
Lending some legitimacy to the grunge-light brand.
The purveyors of overpriced Coachella gear over at Nasty Gal are hiring Lady Courtney Love to lend their brand some punk rock legitimacy. Always lightly influenced by grunge, Nasty Gal was founded in 2006 and has been on the up ever since with it's CEO Sophia Amoruso, gathering quite the cult of personality around herself.
Now, Nasty Gal is enlisting the help of a preeminent subcultural legend for an 18-piece collection of 90's inspired lingerie. The clothes are both retro and predictably edgy, with the iconic stage looks of Love serving as the main inspiration.
“There were photos and I had a few [pieces] that I had saved,” Love told Vogue. “We went through some of my rock-star ’90s stuff and redid that in a more modern context, and some new things as well.”
Vogue described some of the other items that will be made available: "de rigueur baby doll dresses, a silk maxi gown, strappy lingerie, and sweeping lace kimonos (complete with dangling 'doodads,' as Love has dubbed them). Fans will also have the chance to snap up two footwear styles, a mesh stiletto and a cheeky Mary Jane, complete with sparkling heel. The capsule eschews the costumey, and will be right at home in millennials’ wardrobes—and well priced in a range of $48 to $188."
The collection is playfully titled "Love, Courtney" and will be available on 1/14/16.
