Leslie Jones had a hell of a time finding someone to dress her for the Ghostbusters premiere, one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer which she stars in. Some say it’s because she waited too long to get in touch with designers, but most say it’s because fashion has a very narrow, messed up standard of beauty and these designers are racist and sizeist as hell. Jones ended up tweeting about her frustrations, though she didn’t name names.
Too bad, would like to know whose clothing I should boycott. Not that I could afford anything from a red carpet designer, but it’s the principle that counts.
Finally, designer Christian Siriano answered the call. Any good fashion designer should be able to dress anyone to look their best. And Jones looks like way more than her best—she’s stunning:
She also seems pretty happy with how it turned out:
As does Siriano:
After Siriano stepped up, a lot of people were rooting that Jones would have her Pretty Woman moment, returning to the people who refused to dress her to saying, "Big mistake. Huge." Siriano made a sly reference to it in his tweet above and yes, the dress does resemble one worn by Julia Roberts in the film. And you know what, rude designers? You did make a huge a mistake.
