Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris may have broken up what feels like ages ago, but there's still plenty of tea to be spilled.
So here's what (allegedly) went down: back when Taylor and Calvin were still together, Taylor wrote the song and later sat down at a piano and recorded a rough demo on her iPhone. She sent the demo to her then-boyfriend Calvin, who loved it so much that they eventually went into the studio and recorded an official demo of it together, with Taylor on vocals and Calvin on the beat.
They decided not to let anyone know they'd collaborated on the song because they were afraid it would overshadow the music, especially since Taylor wrote the song for Calvin. In the end, Taylor gave him the song, but kept the publishing rights using the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg.
Fast forward to the song's release in late April: it quickly became a hit, and Calvin appeared on Ryan Seacrest's radio show to promote the song. When Ryan asked Calvin about the possibility of collaborating with Taylor one day, Calvin responded, "You know, we haven't even spoken about it. I can't see it happening though."
Well, apparently that majorly hurt Taylor, and she felt he took it too far. TMZ's sources have even said that was the beginning of the end for Taylor and Calvin's relationship.
Even though Taylor can technically forbid him from ever performing the song, she hasn't. Apparently she's a bigger person than Calvin who was in a similar situation with his ex Rita Ora, except after they broke up, he refused to allow her to perform the song he wrote for her. Petty, right?
In any case, the story is that Taylor's squad feels like Calvin should be a lot more grateful than he is, and that's why they've leaked the story now.
Yeah, this is messy AF. Do you believe it, or nah?
