I Often Get Asked About My Diet. Here's Everything You Need To Know.
Diary #2: "I watch what I eat, but sometimes I reward myself when I reach a goal!"

I often get asked about my diet—especially by moms who say, ‘please tell me you eat healthy so that I can tell my kids they better eat their vegetables!’ Truthfully, I watch what I eat, but sometimes I reward myself when I reach a goal! Fighting for what you want to accomplish can get really hard. That’s why I believe in having a day here and there to enjoy a favorite treat.
My favorite reward meal is cheese pizza with french fries, and my favorite reward desserts are cookie dough ice cream and donuts. If you have gone on my @gabrielledoug Twitter feed lately, you may or may not have seen all of my delicious dream reward food posts.
Okay, let me get back to my healthy eating habits.
I don’t like to have any thing heavy in the morning before I leave for training. Normally for breakfast, I will have a small bowl of oatmeal with raisins. I don’t really drink coffee, so Miss Carolyn makes me a yummy tea with honey and lemon.
How and what I eat depends on what training day it is. On Mon, Wed, and Fri, I practice in the morning and in the afternoon, while on Tues, Thur and Sat, I train four hours (I call these my short days). I don’t eat while I am training, so I’m usually very hungry after my four hour morning practice. On my short days, I get to enjoy a larger lunch. But since I also practice in the afternoon on my long days, I don’t like to eat anything heavy that makes me feel full.
So for lunch, I like to keep it simple. Grilled chicken or turkey breasts over a small salad of spinach, kale, cucumbers, tomatoes, an egg, a little cheese and honey mustard salad dressing. I also include a piece of fruit in my lunch. I like almost every fruit, but right now mangos are one of my favorites.
By the time I get home from training, I’m really hungry! For dinner, I love to eat pasta with chicken or fish. I also add a baked potato or sweet potato to my meals. I eat a lot of veggies (Kids- listen to your mom! They really are good for you!) and Miss Carolyn knows how to season them to perfection!
However tonight, I am excited because I’m rewarding myself! I’ve been working extra hard on my nailing my beam routines and I am quite pleased with my progress!! Miss Carolyn makes an apple pie that is out of this world! It will go perfectly with my ice cream! I know I can’t get too crazy and eat the whole pie - maybe just a couple of slices?
