If you grew up watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, you might become one of these raving new fans of the reboot, too.
When Lionsgate announced that they were turning Power Rangers from the cheesy, flimsy, man-in-a-paper-suit cornball machine franchise into a full-out superhero movie with a $150 million budget, not many people cried foul.
The time has finally come. The reboot not only includes amazingly updated suits (bye-bye spandex), but also a more complex storyline and actually talented actors, too. Elizabeth Banks (Modern Family), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), and pop star Becky G will star. Cranston is actually returning to an old gig: he used to voice multiple characters during the time of the hit television series, so nostalgic grumpers have reason to rejoice after all!
The reboot is said to be more "adult" than the original, but also "playful." And the new trailer proves this to be true—at least from first glance.
And people are freaking out about it— grown ass people! Kinda like me.
Still not convinced? Here's the official synopsis:
"Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late."
Now, tell me you're not a believer!
