Should James Bond be played by a woman one day?
Last month, Chris Hemsworth suggested that Charlize Theron would make a perfect bond, telling W magazine, "She embodies every ounce of strength and nobility and dignity and integrity that that character should have. She's smart as hell. She's physically able."
Halle Berry isn't into the idea of switching up James Bond's gender, though. Earlier this week, Entertainment Tonight asked Berry what she thought of Hemsworth's idea, and while she's all for there being more strong female characters in films, she'd rather those characters be brand new.
"I want [women] to be tough but I don't know if Bond should be a woman," Berry said. "I mean, that series is steeped in history, you know Ian Fleming's stories. I don't think you can change Bond to a woman."
"We can create a new Bond character that's a woman, and give her a new name, based on that theory, but I don't know if Bond should be a woman," she continued.
Do you agree with Halle's take on this one? Is it better to create brand new female characters rather than create female versions of well-known ones?
