Travanna? Rihavis? Rihanna and Travis Scott were first linked together in early September, when they were spotted spending an awful lot of time together, with Rihanna being spotted at Travis's shows. And though nothing has been officially confirmed, it seems pretty obvious that the two are seeing each other - at least for the time being.
So who is this dude?
1. He's a rapper (duh).
Let's just get this out of the way: Travis Scott, real name Jacques Webster, is a 23-year-old rapper/producer from Houston, Texas. He's signed with T.I.'s Grand Hustle imprint, and his debut album, Rodeo, came out earlier this month. (It was his first mixtape, 2013’s Owl Pharaoh, that got people to first take notice.)
2. He's also a producer.
Before signing with T.I, he was signed on with Kanye West's Very G.O.O.D. Beats as a producer. Fun fact: he co-wrote and produced Rihanna's "B**** Better Have My Money."
3. He quit the piano because it wasn't getting him the, um, rewards he wanted.
Travis told Complex in 2012 the reason he abandoned the piano: "Growing up I played the drums and then I played piano. I quit playing piano because it wasn't getting no b******. I was making beats because like the electronic sound was getting all the hoes."
4. He started young.
He started making his own beats when he was 16 because he wanted more control over his overall sound. As he said in the same Complex interview referenced above, "I started making beats because I used to rap over instrumentals, but that s*** wasn't setting the mood for me. Like I needed that s*** more darker. I needed the drums to hit harder, the snares sound like s***, this s***’s got to go. Or like why is this in here?"
5. He considers Kanye West his stepdad.
During an interview with Billboard posted yesterday, Travis talked about his relationship with Kanye, with whom he's collaborated multiple times: "He’s like my stepdad. We always had that relationship where we cook up ideas. We [talk] all the time about random s***: life and how we can do better as people and as rock stars. Our goal is to help people figure out who they want to be."
6. He thinks people don't like him.
From that same Billboard interview: "It sucks. People that have never been to my shows think I’m a douchebag. I’m not this angry, psycho motherf***er who just be spazzing on security for no reason. I’m super nice - I just get excited! When you come to my show, it’s like a no-holds-barred, underground Royal Rumble. I don’t want to hurt anybody. I’m a kid, I’m still learning."
7. He made out with Rihanna in public.
Travis and Rihanna got pretty hot and heavy during her NYFW party, grinding up on each other and making out in a room full of people - and TMZ has the video to prove it.
8. He shouted out Rihanna during a recent performance.
According to TMZ, during a performance in California earlier this month, Travis changed a line in his song "3500" from "One time for the trill b*****s that'll let me touch it" to "One time for the RiRi that'll let me touch it." Well ok then.
