Voting has never been so fashionable. Today, fans of Hillary Clinton are taking to the polls to cast their votes and show off their pantsuits. According to CNN, supporters plan to rock Hillary's signature style while voting.
This love of pantsuits began in a private politics Facebook group called Pantsuit Nation. Started by Libby Chamberlain of Maine, she and her friend saw the image of HIllary in a pantsuit as symbolic of challenging gender roles, since suits are usually seen as menswear. "We talked about how beautifully and stoically Hillary embodies women's fight for equality, and how the pantsuit is an emblem of that struggle," she said. "It's a symbol that might be lost on younger women, and so I wanted to do something to re-appropriate that symbol and everything that it means to me as a feminist and Clinton supporter."
Now, #PantsuitNation has gone public and even fashionista Clinton supporters like Beyonce and Lady Gaga are showing off the style. Beyonce wore a polka-dotted pantsuit while performing during a Hillary rally while Gaga opted for a black one.
Whether she's wearing patriotic colors or sequins, Hillary has joked that her pantsuit inspiration comes from many places, including hip-hop. The Democrat shouted out Tupac Shakur and Death Row Records who wore pantsuits in the '90s. "You know, I think Death Row and a lot of other fashion sources have influenced my look, don't you?" she joked on The Breakfast Club.
