Interview Magazine Defends Kylie Jenner Using A Wheelchair For Fashion
It's just art?
Kylie Jenner has some explaining to do over her photo shoot in a wheelchair. Fans and critics are angry that the reality star is using a disability as a fashion accessory but Interview, the magazine behind the shoot, doesn’t see it as bad.
“At Interview, we are proud of our tradition of working with great artists and empowering them to realize their distinct and often bold visions. The Kylie Jenner cover by Steven Klein, which references the British artist Allen Jones, is a part of this tradition, placing Kylie in a variety of positions of power and control and exploring her image as an object of vast media scrutiny,” the publication shared with E!
Huh? Sounds like spin and many fans aren’t buying it. “As an advocate for people with disabilities, and having one myself, my cane is NOT a fashion statement,” blasted @Chronicallyhip in the comments section of Instagram. “'I’m pretty sure you @stevenkleinstudio and @kyliejenner have no idea what it's like to have a chronic condition and need one. Go out in public with one. Get the stares, comments etc. you try it and tell me how it goes.” Another one put it simply, “Tasteless. Ridiculous. Offensive.”
