Is Rihanna Planning A Surprise Album Drop?
Are we in for a Thanksgiving surprise?
Does anyone really like Thanksgiving? I mean, your racist uncle is going to say something horrible and your dog is going to barf under the table. That's just what happens!
According to HITS Daily Double sources, ANTI will be available to stream on 11/27. It will be hard to twerk out to the new jams with all that tryptophan in your system, but we'll make it work, I'm sure.
This will be Rihanna's first album since she dropped since 2012's R&B/Pop instant classic Unapologetic, and her first one to be released on Jay Z's label Roc Nation. The ubiquitous Kanye West is a featured producer. Notably, the plan seems to be to stream the album over the embattled Tidal service first, with the album officially available for purchase a week after.
Earlier this year, a small tabloid story ran in which it was reported that "[Rihanna] has told close friends and family she is 'uncomfortable and unhappy' with the record."
We've already heard three anthems from the new LP ("FourFiveSeconds," "BBHMM," and "American Oxygen") while the other songs remain a mystery; no track listing has been announced just yet -- although "Higher," "James Joint," and "Only If For A Night" have been teased on social media and at various events.
In October, Rihanna showed off the album's artsy cover by Roy Nachum at a special release party at Los Angeles' MAMA Gallery, in which guests were invited to attend wearing red blindfolds and read poems in braille until the final reveal.
Let's hope gossip about the surprise drop doesn't deter the album's release any further.
