Ja Rule promised that the Fyre Festival would be a luxury experience in paradise. The music festival, which boasted headliners like Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music and Blink-182, looks to be a disaster. According to accounts on social media, festivalgoers are claiming that Fyre Fest is a scam.
The trending topic #FyreFestival shares how a high-priced experience in the Bahamas was more Hunger Games than paradise. Fans on the ground—some paid up to $12,000 to attend—were expecting private yachts and island-hopping but complained about lack of food, proper housing and transportation.
Fyre Festival is a new event. To kick off its inaugural festival, the brand initially used supermodels and influencers like Bella Hadid to promote an opulent experience.
Following the horror stories, Fyre Festival has announced that it's officially postponed: "Due to circumstances out of our control, the physical infrastructure was not in place on time and we are unable to fulfill on that vision safely and enjoyably for our guests. At this time, we are working tirelessly to get flights scheduled and get everyone off of Great Exuma and home safely as quickly as we can."
