Masters of their art, Drake and Jennifer Lopez have been leading us all through a little choreographed dance of faux-courtship. Their PDA Instagram posts, their publicity stunt smooches, their expensive gifts to each other. It was all designed to make us think they’re falling in love, and thus spark our interest in new music from Drake, featuring J.Lo.
OR SO SHE SAYS (kinda).
In an interview with ET's Leanne Aguilera at a TCA panel for Shades of Blue on Wednesday, Lopez denied that she and Drake are dating, saying, “He just asked me to do a song with him and that's what we've been doing,” adding, “We'll see if it's on his next album.”
But consider this: wouldn’t saying they’re only hanging because they’re making music together be the perfect cover for a relationship? Or...maybe she knows I’d think that. Maybe she’s saying they’re just hanging for the music in the hopes that I’ll think she’s being coy and they’re in a relationship, but that’s just part of the fake relationship designed to make me interested in their music. HELP, JENNIFER LOPEZ GOT IN MY HEAD!!
For the record: the interviewer followed up by saying, "Put the rumors to rest: are you guys dating?" and J.Lo pretended somebody had called her name on the other side of the 6 train platform. Hmmm.
Whatever the truth is, I’m definitely psyched to hear this song. Ya got me, guys. You got me.
