Joe Biden Officiated A Wedding For Gay White House Staffers
"Couldn't be happier," tweeted Biden about the ceremony.
This year's election and political climate in general have us in a downward existential spiral of hopelessness, shame, and terror -- but hey, at least Joe Biden is really f*cking cute! While Obama has only recently become an outspoken supporter of LGBT rights, Uncle Joey B. has been adorably reppin' for the queers for a while and is been partially responsible for the White House's change in attitude about gays in these past eight years. Just this week, Biden shared an image of himself performing a delightful duty: the Vice President officiated the wedding of two gay White House staffers.
According to Buzzfeed, Biden obtained a temporary certification in order to be able to officiate the wedding of Brian Mosteller and Joe Mahshie, who specifically requested his services. The couple is pretty high up as far as government employees go: Mosteller is the director of Oval Office operations, and Mahshie is a trip coordinator for Michelle Obama.
This was the first wedding (gay or otherwise) that Biden has officiated but it probably won't be the last. Everyone is going to ask him to officiate their wedding from now until the end of time, because did you even see that picture? It's just the best!
