Juicy Couture Founders Are Bringing Back Velour Tracksuits
They promise it will “make your butt look extra good.”
There's nothing that says 2000s like Juicy Couture's velour tracksuit. The iconic sweats were worn by everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Britney Spears--oftentimes with flip flops and trucker hats. You no longer have to go to a museum to see this fashion relic because the founders behind the brand are bringing back the iconic tracksuit.
According to Refinery 29, designers Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor are bringing back velour as part of Pam & Gela. "We were thinking about what the modern-day Juicy would look like," Nash-Taylor tells the site. "Your taste level changes."
Pam & Gela is all about velour, fleece, French terry, and cotton jersey, like Juicy. The designers promise that there's also "crazy outerwear" with faux and real fur (knitted Mongolian wool and rabbit). According to Refinery 29, the updated pants include embellishments like faux double-welt pockets and a back yoke “to make your butt look extra good,” plus a fake zipper placket. “The idea is to look like more of a finished pant than a track pant you just throw on,” Nash-Taylor said.
For those worrying about the low-rise issue (Juicys were dangerously low-cut), these new pants fall at least two inches higher. Phew!
