The Emmys were pretty fun last night, with lots of awards going to some of our favs. Amongst the emotional speeches about TV and diversity, there was also time for some fun, fun bits. One of the best was Leslie Jones coming out to yell at a bunch of formally dressed white men. Accounting firm Ernst & Young is taxed every year with the obligation to protect the Emmys' secrets, so no one knows the winner until the big night. Jones wanted to know why they weren’t protecting a much more vulnerable (and interesting) treasure trove—her Twitter account.
Jones was hacked this summer, after a long campaign of harassment against her, and nude pictures of Jones were leaked on her website. At least she has a sense of humor about it, saying to the quiet reps, “Y'all protecting something nobody is trying to steal...Don’t nobody want to know about boring Emmy secrets. But since you good at keeping things safe, I got a job for you: My Twitter account. Put that in the vault, please.
“Y'all using your skills to protect best voiceover on a French sitcom. Meanwhile I'm butt naked on CNN. I just wanted to feel beautiful y'all. Can a sister feel beautiful?"
You are beautiful, Leslie! And very very funny.
