Lil Wayne is an immensely talented rapper and lovable clown-hearted goof. But should we really be looking to him for political opinions? No, probably not. Especially after his interview on Nightline yesterday, in which he once again made some controversial (and, let's be real, pretty ignorant) statements about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Here's the interview:
This isn't the first time Wayne has made some pretty inflammatory remarks about the nature of race relations in America. Back in September, Weezy went on record saying that he didn't believe racism existed — a statement he now says he does not regret making.
"Don't come at me with that dumb sh*t," said Wayne last night when asked about #BLM. "My life matters."
"I don't feel connected to it ... It ain't got nothing to do with me ... I'm not a f*cking politician." he said before storming off angrily.
Confusingly, Wayne had actually made pro-BLM comments at concerts in August:
It's almost like Wayne regularly indulges in substances that destroy his brain functioning!
Anyway, maybe we should just take him at face value — we can't expect all celebrities to espouse nuanced political opinions. He ain't no politician, that's for damn sure.
