This is so not a good look.
Grazia UK is in a ton of hot water after photoshopping Lupita Nyong'o's natural hair. The actress was featured on the cover of the magazine's November issue, but her ponytail was edited out of the final photo.
Lupita took to social media on Thursday to post the original version of the photo, and expressed her disappointment in the magazine for smoothing her hair "to fit their notion of what beautiful hair looks like."
As she explained her post, Lupita is committed to embracing her natural heritage and wants to inspire others to do the same.
"I am disappointed that @graziauk invited me to be on their cover and then edited out and smoothed my hair to fit their notion of what beautiful hair looks like," she continued. "Had I been consulted, I would have explained that I cannot support or condone the omission of what is my native heritage with the intention that they appreciate that there is still a very long way to go to combat the unconscious prejudice against black women's complexion, hair style and texture."
She finished her post with one final reminder: "dtmh," which means, "Don't touch my hair."
First Solange, now Lupita? This has got to stop.
Grazia UK has yet to respond to the controversy.
