Mariah Carey has broken her silence about her disastrous New Year's Eve performance. Mariah's team had earlier said that it was Dick Clark Productions, the company behind the show, who handled the audio which caused the mishap.
The diva has officially opened up to Entertainment Tonight about her displeasure for Dick Clark Productions.
"All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person and I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business," she said. "I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time."
Mariah is not dissuaded from performing live again in the future. Next time, she wants to have her team handling the audio instead of an outside source. "It’s not going to stop me from doing a live event in the future. But it will make me less trusting of using anyone outside of my own team."
Mariah's manager dismissed rumors that Mariah didn't come to rehearsal for the show. "The most important thing to her was the sound. The sound was coming in choppy. She was assured it would work by the evening." Unfortunately, the sound never did work. According to the manager, Mariah couldn't hear her audio during the show, which explains why her singing didn't match her backing track.
Dick Clark Productions disagrees. "An initial investigation has indicated that DCP had no involvement in the challenges associated with Ms. Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance," the company said in a statement.
